Nuscope recordings’ new release, titled In Formation Network with saxophonist Jon Irabagon, trombonist Joe Fiedler, and guitarist Todd Neufeld, was released on Friday, November 17. According to Art Lange, “They are a trio of sensitivity, wit, and more than a splash of vinegar, and the music they have created here brings something not only surprising, but substantial, to the art of ensemble improvisation.”
This disc, which was recorded in April 2017 in Mount Vernon, New York at the wonderful Oktaven Audio studio, consists of nine varied compositions with a unifying trio sound and identity. The liner notes are from the Chicago-based journalist Art Lange and the cover photo is by none other than the great alto saxophonist Tim Berne.
